Your training plan.
Your AI. Your data.
Run42 is a running coach app that lives entirely on your phone. No account, no subscription, no vendor holding your training history hostage.
Most AI running coaches work against you
Your runs, your health data, your training history — sent to a server you don't control, held by a company you're trusting to stay in business. You pay a monthly subscription that marks up AI costs you never see. And if the app shuts down, or changes its pricing, or gets acquired — your data, and your training plan, go with it.
Run42 was built to not work that way.
What's actually different
You own your data
Every run, every workout, your entire training history lives in a local database on your phone. If you turn on iCloud sync, it syncs to your iCloud account — never through a server we run.
Your AI, your choice
Bring your own API key from Mistral, OpenAI, or Anthropic. You pay the provider directly — usually pennies a month — instead of a subscription markup on top of costs you can't see.
No AI key? No problem
Pick from 12 ready-made training plans — 5K to marathon, beginner to advanced — applied instantly with zero network calls. A full coaching app shouldn't require an API key just to get started.
Nothing's locked in
Export any run as GPX or TCX, any time. Your data is portable to Strava, Garmin, or wherever you want it — because it was always yours.
Start however fits you
Build a plan with AI
Answer a few questions about your goal, fitness, and schedule — your AI provider generates a plan tailored to you.
Import a plan you already have
Already got a plan from ChatGPT or a coach? Paste it in and Run42 turns it into a trackable schedule.
Use a ready-made plan
Pick your distance and level from 12 pre-built plans. Instant, offline, no AI needed at all.
Still a full-featured coaching app
Owning your data doesn't mean going without the coaching features that actually help you run better.
Live GPS tracking
Real-time distance, pace, splits, and elevation while you run.
AI coaching cues, mid-run
Spoken feedback at kilometer markers, halfway, the final push — and if your pace is slipping, it notices before you do.
Pre-run briefings
A short spoken briefing before every workout, grounded in your recent training and how you're recovering.
Post-run debriefs
After every run: pacing analysis, effort interpretation, and recovery guidance based on how the run actually went.
Apple Health integration
HRV, resting heart rate, and sleep feed into recovery-aware coaching — all read locally, never uploaded anywhere.
Apple Watch app
Live heart rate on your wrist, with pause/resume synced between phone and Watch.
Interval & strength workouts
Structured interval sessions with segment tracking, plus guided strength workouts with sets, reps, and rest timers.
Progress tracking
Weekly volume, consistency, and an activity feed covering both runs and cross-training.
Your training plan. Your AI. Your data.
